The Hurricane Law Group was founded by Paul Berger more than a decade ago to help Floridians recover from the devastation that is caused by a hurricane. The sole focus of our practice is hurricane law and assessing hurricane damages. Our client experience includes hotels, office buildings, gas stations, municipal buildings, shopping centers and residential properties.

The firm has earned a reputation for helping his clients expedite and maximize insurance recovery after a loss. Our attorneys have provided insurance recovery counsel for numerous hurricanes including Katrina, Wilma, Francis, Ike, Sandy and Irma.

PAUL BERGER

Paul has provided insurance recovery counsel for numerous hurricanes including Katrina, Wilma, Francis, Ike, Sandy and Irma. Well versed in insurance policies and coverage determinations, what makes Paul unique in the field is his knowledge and ability in assessing and evaluating damages. Paul is licensed and trained as both an attorney and a public insurance adjuster. Combining these skills makes Paul uniquely qualified for the complexity of large losses, and he has provided both causation and valuation determinations on a wide variety of structures including hotels, office buildings, gas stations, municipal buildings, shopping centers and residential properties. Paul has helped his clients recover tens of millions of dollars in additional insurance proceeds.

Paul’s legal work has been featured in numerous newspapers including the Miami Herald, Palm Beach Post, and the Wall Street Journal and he has appeared on most major television networks. Paul served of the Board of Directors of a disaster technology company alongside the former Chief of Staff of FEMA and CTO of Citibank. Paul has spoken at the World Bank on disasters and technology and has been an outspoken advocate for disaster preparedness.

STEVEN SIMON

Steven Simon has been practicing law since 1985. He was voted a Super Lawyer by his peers in 2021. His primary focus since 2004 has been representing individuals, condominium associations and businesses against insurance companies for hurricane claims. Steve has tried numerous cases to verdict and handles all the litigation needs at Hurricane Law Group.

Nicole Freedlander, Hurricane Law Group

NICOLE FREEDLANDER

Nicole Freedlander is an attorney who cares about leveling the playing field. She has dedicated her 28 year career championing the rights of her clients against the insurance industry. Since the insurance industry is profit based, they often deny, underpay and delay claims. Over the course of her practice, she has obtained millions of dollars in settlements, judgements and jury trial verdicts. She is an experienced civil trial litigator who has obtained numerous verdicts in jury trials. Nicole has held a public insurance adjuster license and has the knowledge and skill how to adjust insurance claims. She has extensive experience handling residential and commercial hurricane claims and prides herself on getting additional money that her client deserves.

Nicole earned her law degree at the University of Miami School of Law in 1993 and has committed her practice to successfully adjusting, negotiating, and litigating first and third-party insurance claims. The key to her success is her focus on preparation, knowledge of insurance and the law.
